The former governor said since they are the soul of the party in Zamfara State, the right thing to do is to do a 50-50 arrangement.
He said there group rejected Matawalle’s offer because the arrangement was unacceptable.
“As the owners of the party, we agreed to cede 20 percent of positions, but we were advised to do a 50-50. We cede 50 percent to the governor and he cedes 50 percent to us.
“But Matawalle is insisting that on holding on to 70 percent, while we get 30 percent of positions in the party and in his government…there is a problem,” Yari said.
Dateline Nigeria reports that Gov Matwalle recently paid separate visits to Senator Marafa and former governor Yari.
“The situation in Zamfara is unlike the one in Ebonyi or Cross River. In Zamfara, APC had everything including governor, senators. We know what happened.” Yari said, adding that “If elections should hold today, we have no doubt that we will win.”
He accused the national leadership of the APC of fuelling the crisis in Zamfara by continuing with the registration and revalidation of membership despite a court order.
He said some members of the party went to court after the Governor Mai Mala Buni-led caretaker committee dissolved the party structure and replaced it with an interim management.
