“The True Test of Leadership is How Well You Function in a Crisis.”
The above quote by Brian Tracy, a Canadian- American motivational public speaker and self- development author, succinctly captures the role Aragbiji of Iragbiji, Oba AbdulRasheed Ayotunde Olabomi Odundun IV, played last Saturday when some rampaging hoodlums seized the State by the jugular.
These errant fellows, some of whom have now repented at least by returning some of the looted items, went from town to town, village to village in some Councils, to loot government and private property, leaving in their wake destruction and loss of lives.
But while the hoodlums had a field day in other towns and villages, the Aragbiji not only stood up to be counted, he also led by example by leading the youths of the town to prevent invasion by the rampaging hoodlums, some of whom may have been involved in the attempt on the life of the Governor, State of Osun, Adegboyega Oyetola, penultimate Saturday.
Iragbiji is the country home of the Governor. So, you can imagine what could have happened if the traditional ruler and youths of the town had not put up a strong resistance.
For standing up to be counted, I salute the Aragbiji, Oba AbdulRasheed Ayotunde Olabomi Odundun IV, as he marks his birthday today.
Urbane, suave, simple and understanding, the Aragbiji has proved to be a dependable father to my Principal in the last one year that I came in contact with him.
He does not wait for me to visit him before offering words of advice and encouragement.
As you mark your birthday today, I pray Almighty Allah to guide your steps and answer all your prayers.
I pray to Allah to cover your imperfections, purify your intentions, answer all your supplications, and provide you with more than you ask for as you strive to make Iragbiji better than you met it. May Allah continue to imbue you with the wisdom, understanding, and tolerance to navigate through.
Happy birthday to you, Sir. Many happy returns, Your Royal Highness.
