ATBU Senate elects new deputy vice chancellors

The Senate of the University has elected Professor Sani Usman Kunya and Professor Ahmad Sarki Fagam as Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics) and Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration) respectively.

In its special meeting held on Tuesday, 22nd August, 2023, the two Professors emerged after a keen contest against Professor Nanmwa Voncir and Professor Samaila Idi Ningi, respectively.

After the election, which was supervised by Chairman of the Senate, Vice Chancellor, Professor Mohammad Ahmad Abdulazeez, Sani Kunya got 87 votes to win over Professor Nanmwa Voncir who got 19 votes.

In the same vein, Professor Ahmed Sarki Fagam got 67 votes to win over Professor Samaila Idi Ningi who got 47 votes. Both Deputy Vice-Chancellors will serve a renewable term of two years.

During the same sitting, the Senate re-elected Professor Sulaiman Dangana Abdul to serve as the Dean, Post-Graduate School for another two years after he got a total votes of 64 to win over his co-contestant, Professor Aroke O. Umar who got 40 votes.

Meanwhile, the Senate also confirmed Professor Nasir Murtala for another term of two years as the Director for the Directorate of Entrepreneurship while Professor Fatima A. Sawa was equally confirmed for another two years as the Director for the Directorate for Innovation, Research and Development.
