Joao Felix is sidelined through injury ahead of the derby between Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid on Sunday, and neither Antoine Griezmann nor Luis Suarez are expected to be in the starting line-up.
Atletico’s most talented player, last season’s top scorer and last summer’s biggest signing will not be in the first XI that will take to the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano pitch for different reasons.

The Portuguese would start if he wasn’t out injured, while Luis Suarez failed to make the most of the opportunity he was handed against Athletic Club. Meanwhile, Griezmann hasn’t netted a single goal since the Copa del Rey game against Rayo Majadahonda at the beginning of the calendar year.
Thus, the two men who are expected to start in attack are Matheus Cunha and Angel Correa. Despite being the outfielder with the fewest official minutes this season, Cunha has earned the affection of a good part of the stands.
His six goals, aerial strength, dedication and ability to combine with his teammates is something that Atletico’s coaching staff highly values. For this reason, the Brazilian will have the best possible opportunity to take advantage of the last games of the season and demonstate that he deserves more opportunities next season.
