Bakori LG gets new chairman

The Secretary to the Katsina State Government, Alhaji Abdullahi Garba Faskari, has sworn in Hon. Abubakar Barde as the new Chairman of Bakori Local Government Area.

This followed the unfortunate passing of the late Hon. Aminu Dan Hamidu.

The event took place at the Government House Katsina, where Alhaji Faskari administered the oath of office on behalf of the State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda.

The SGS reaffirmed that this moment was not just a transition of office, but a powerful reminder of the responsibilities that comes with public trust.

Reflecting on the sequence of recent events, the SGS reminded all present that leadership is fleeting, but legacy endures.

“Only two months ago, right here in this chamber, the late Chairman was sworn in,” he said. “Yesterday, we buried him. Today, another has taken the oath. This is a reminder to all of us: we may plan, but it is God who decides. And in that, we find both humility and duty.”

He charged Hon. Barde to serve with sincerity, wisdom, and God-consciousness. “You are not merely replacing someone—you are stepping into a responsibility shaped by sacrifice and trust,” he noted.

“Lead with humility. Carry everyone along. Let your actions reflect the values of the late Chairman, who was known for his devotion, simplicity, and love for his people.”

In his remarks, Hon. Abubakar Barde, the council’s former Vice Chairman, expressed gratitude to Governor Dikko Umaru Radda and the Katsina State Government for the confidence placed in him during a time of emotional and administrative transition.

He pledged to honour the legacy of his predecessor through inclusive governance and community-driven service delivery.

“I step into this role with a heavy heart, but with full awareness of the expectations before me,” Barde said. “I promise to serve with diligence, transparency, and respect for the people of Bakori.”

The Katsina State Government, under the leadership of Governor Radda, remains committed to continuity, stability, and integrity in local administration.

The government assures the people of Bakori that support for developmental programs and community security will remain steadfast.
