Gunmen suspected to be bandits have kidnapped no fewer than 13 married women and children in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State.
While a source in the area said the women were intercepted on their way to a wedding ceremony, the Katsina police spokesman Gambo Isah told the BBC that they were going to a bank in neighbouring Funtua to collect cash grant.

“The incident happened when the women were on their way from Unguwar Rimi Village to Garin Maigora town to attend a wedding ceremony” the source told Katsina Post, adding that all the women were carrying babies at the time they were abducted on Thursday.
The source said a woman and her baby were released by the bandits due to the ill health of the baby.
The police spokesman said the women were travelling in a Golf vehicle when the gunmen opened fire on them.
Isah said 13 women from Maigora were abducted but three later escaped.
