The Executive Chairman of the Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC) Alhaji Ahmed Makama has pledged to conduct free, fair, credible and acceptable local government election on August 17, 2024, in the state.

The chairman said an interactive meeting was conducted with all political parties and other stakeholders, adding that the commission has adequate funding to deliver its constitutional mandate,
He stressed that there will be no room for shortage of election materials.
Makama advised political parties and candidates to scrutinise deeply relevant sections of the constitution and electoral guidelines to play the game according to the rules.
He said the permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) used during the previous elections will be the valid authentication for the election and called for co-operation from the citizens to strengthen the electoral system.
Makama commended the support and synergy enjoined from the key actors, particularly the security agencies and community leaders towards ensuring the conduct of a seamless exercise.
He advised Political Parties to ensure that they present acceptable and credible candidates to the electorate.
Many political parties interviewed express their intention to contest the election with the hope that it will not be business as usual or as in other states where the ruling party in the state win the election
