Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has said that his administration is set to conduct local government elections in six months from now.
He said this is in line with his commitment to providing dividends of democracy and improving living standard of citizens especially at the rural areas.
Governor Bala stated this at the Multipurpose indoor Sports hall Bauchi, today, during the swearing ceremony of the twenty local government chairmen caretaker committee and their deputies.
He said since its inception, the PDP administration under his watch in the state has recorded tremendous successes in the execution of projects aimed at upgrading the living standard of citizens despite the economic challenges, advised the newly appointed chairmen to be good representatives of the Party in their respective domains.
He advised the Caretaker Committee Chairmen to work together with relevant stakeholders in line with the provision of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Governor Bala told them to work with their deputies, respect traditional leaders, people of the communities and to join hands with security agencies in order the State to continue living peacefully.
He told the gathering the paradigm his administration will work on in the second tenure with a view to alleviating poverty, construction of additional roads, hospitals and classroom blocks, in all wards across the state, urging the newly appointed chairmen to support the initiative by giving the security agencies in the state the required support and contributions.
Responding on behalf of the Caretaker Chairmen, Alhaji Usman Randi of Giade local government, assured Governor Bala of their loyalty and commitment to the development of the state.
The swearing ceremony had in attendance, the Bauchi State Chief Judge Justice Rabi Talatu Umar, top government officials among other dignitaries.
