Bauchi State Governor Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has sworn-in eight new commissioners.
This followed a recent cabinet reshuffle, where he dropped five commissioners and nominated eight new ones.
Speaking at the occasion Governor Bala said five of the new commissioners replaced those recently dropped, while two filled the vacancies left by former Commissioner for Budget, Economic Planning & Multilateral Coordination, Alhaji Aminu Hammayo, now Secretary to the State Government, and the late Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu Jalam, former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
The remaining appointee will head the newly created Ministry of Livestock Development.
He thanked the outgoing commissioners for their service, because they were removed not because they did anything wrong that was the reason why some of them would continue contributing as Special Advisers.
He congratulated the new appointees, emphasizing that their selection was based on merit, experience, and fair representation.
Governor Mohammed reminded the new commissioners of the significant responsibilities ahead, urged them to allign with the administration’s policies and maintain accountability and transparency.
He warned that performance would be closely monitored, with periodic reviews ensuring accountability.
The newly appointed commissioners and their portfolios include:
- Alh. Usman Usman Shehu: Ministry of Information & Communication
- Dr. Iliyasu Aliyu Gital: Ministry of Agriculture
- Dr. Bala Musa Lukshi: Ministry of Livestock Development
- Hon. Isa Babayo Tilde: Ministry of Local Government & Chieftaincy Affairs
- Prof. Titus Saul Ketkukah: Ministry of Works and Transport
- Alh. Adamu Babayo Gabarin: Ministry of Youth and Sports
- Alh. Abdullahi Mohammed: Ministry of Lands and Survey
- Dr. Lawal Mohammed Rimin Zayam: Ministry of Education
Similarly, four serving commissioners have been reassigned to new ministries:
- Amina Muhammad Katagum: Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning
- Ibrahim Gambo Galadima: Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs
- Muhammed Salees Gamawa: Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment
- Engr. Binni Abdulkadir: Ministry for Religious Affairs and Societal Re-orientation
Governor Bala reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering the dividends of democracy and urged the new appointees to uphold the trust bestowed upon them, and call for continued dedication to the development of Bauchi State.
In his Vote of thanks on behalf of the newly appointed Commissioners , the new Commissioner of Information Usman Shehu Usman thanked the Governor for the appointment and pledged to justify the confidence reposed in them.
