Bauchi NNPP executives reject suspension of state chairman

The Bauchi State Executives Network of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has rejected the purported suspension of its state chairman, Alhaji Sani Shehu Sanin Malam by the North East Zonal Secretary of the Party, Babayo Liman.

The State Legal Adviser of the party Barrister Mohammed A Mohammed stated their position today when he addressed reporters in Bauchi.

He said the action of the Zonal Secretary is unconstitutional, null and void because he and his cohorts didn’t follow due process, and he has no constitutional right to suspend any member of the executive.

Barrister Mohammed said the speed by which it removed the state chairman from office without recourse to the article 17 of the Constitution of the Party, violating any section of the constitution makes their action null and void.

He said the section said “If any member of the State Executive Committee of the party is accused of any wrongdoing, a disciplinary committee must be set up to investigate, give the accused fair hearing by giving him the opportunity to defend himself and submit their recommendations before taking any action and they didn’t do anything like that.”

“Since nothing was done to authenticate their action, their action is null and void. We the Executives Network Committee are with our chairman and we will not allow the unconstitutional action of any member to cause confusion in the party”

He reaffirmed that Sani Shehu Sanin Malam remains the chairman of NNPP in Bauchi State.
