Borno panel to investigate alleged slitting of pupil’s throat by senior student

The Borno State government has appointed a five-member committee to investigate the alleged slitting of the throat of an 11 year-old pupil, Jubril Sadi Mato, his senior identified as Umar Goni at the Elkanemi College of Islamic Theology in Maiduguri.

Goni, an SS2 student, on 16 January allegedly used razor blade to cut the throat of Jubril, a JSS 1 pupil, who refused to run errand for him.

The committee, which is headed by Alhaji Saddiq Kadafur of the Borno State Ministry of Education, has Hajiya Hadiza Nasir Wali (Director Quality Assurance, Ministry of Education) as secretary.

Other members of the committee are representatives of the Borno State commands of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

The committee is expected to complete its assignment and submit report to the Borno State Commissioner for Education within one week.
