Borno to upgrade printing press, strengthen fire service stations

Government releases fire trucks and vehicles to the Maiduguri International Airport

The Borno State Government has announced plans to upgrade the State Printing Press to handle the printing of all government documents, including gazettes, receipts, certificates, and classified materials.

This was revealed in an exclusive interview with Dandal Kura Radio International by the Commissioner for Information and Internal Security, Professor Usman Alhaji Tar.

Professor Tar also disclosed plans to procure new firefighting equipment to strengthen the state’s fire service. He noted that fire stations would be established in all 27 Local Government Areas, with additional stations in key institutions and the state capital. Furthermore, more firefighters will be recruited and trained, with modern firefighting equipment scheduled for purchase in 2025.

Meanwhile, the Borno State Government has handed over 2 fire fighting trucks and 3 Hilux vehicles to the General Muhammadu Buhari International Airport as the airport transitions into an international airport with overseas flight schedule and a cargo terminal.

While handing over the fire fighting vehicles on behalf of the Government to officials at the airport on Wednesday 1 January 2025, the Commissioner for Information and Internal Security stated this gesture was in fulfilment of the pledge made by Gov Zulum to ensure a smooth upgrade of the airport.
