The Kano State Police Command has arrested one Mansur Umar, 25, for culpable homicide.
This is contained in a statement by spokesperson of the Kano police, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, on Monday.
The statement said “On May 9, 2025, at about 09:30pm, a tragic incident occurred in Kunya Village, Minjibir Local Government Area, resulting in the death of Sulaiman Musa, 25 years old, of Goda Village, Minjibir LGA.
“According to reports, the victim visited his girlfriend, Fiddausi Umar, at her residence, where her brother, Mansur Umar, 25 years old, allegedly hit him with a stick on the head, causing serious injury.
“The victim was rushed to Kunya Cottage Hospital and later referred to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital Kano for further medical attention, where he succumbed to his injuries at 12:50am on the following day.
“The suspect, Mansur Umar, has been arrested, and investigation is ongoing at the Homicide Section of the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
“The Kano State Police Command urges the public to exercise self-control and manage anger, as it can lead to committing offenses.
“We appeal to residents to prioritize peaceful coexistence and report any disputes or issues to the nearest police station for prompt resolution.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, sfipma, mnim, mnips, masis, called on the public to continue to report any suspicious activity to the nearest Police Station as the Command remains committed to ensuring public safety and security.”
