President Muhammadu Buhari has sworn in Shehu Mohammed Bello as Chairman Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).
The swearing-in cerrmony took place during the Federal Executive Council meeting at the State House Abuja on 17th Aug 2022.
Bello replaced Elias Mbam, who resigned and contested for the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial primary election in Abia.
The new chairman, while speaking to State House correspondents after the exercise, pledged to work hard to assist the country gain more revenues within the confines of extant laws.
“I can assure the president that the commission as one of the 14 constitutionally recognised ones will do what it takes to assist him get more revenues before he leaves office next year.
“We will also ensure that we maintain our independence as enshrined in the constitution.’’
Dateline Nigeria reports that Bello was confirmed by the Senate on July 26, 2022.
Chairman of the Senate Committee on National Planning and Economic Affairs Senator Olubunmi Adetunmbi said “From the available documents and the presentation made to the Committee, the nominee satisfies the requirement for appointment as the Chairman of Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission.
“The nominee is very well experienced and adequately exposed at the top levels of government administration and has acquired the capacity to function as chairman.
“The nominee is proper and fit to occupy the office of the chairman in the commission.”
