Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has expressed concern about the ongoing discussions on the national tax reform law, noting that it may not favor the northern region.
Governor Bala said this today at the opening of the State Executive Council meeting at the Executive Chamber of Government House.
He advised the Northern States to strengthen their position.
He said that, as a united nation, Nigeria should avoid laws that could marginalize certain parts of the country.
Governor Bala urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu not to approve any bill that might bring disadvantage to specific regions.
Governor Bala voiced confidence in the northern region’s potential to sustain its economy, given its rich resources in agriculture and minerals.
He highlighted the need for policies that genuinely support growth and development in the North.
Governor Bala called on cabinet members to stay committed to achieving the goals outlined in the My BauchiProject blueprint to ensure socio economic development of the State.
The Executive Council meeting later continued in a closed-door session with members of the SEC in attendance.
