Court remands wife of Hanifa’s ‘killer’ in police custody

A court in Kano State has asked the police to continue to keep in custody the wife of the Abdulmalik Muhammed Tanko, the man accused of abducting and killing 5-year-old Hanifa Abubakar in Kano.

Jamila, 30, is being accused of conspiracy and hiding the girl abducted by her husband, among other charges.

Reading the charges to Jamila, the prosecuting counsel added that the suspect is accused of hiding the abducted child for five days.

Jamila however pleaded not guilty to the allegation of hiding Hanifa in her house.

Abdulmalik Tanko had told the police that after he abducted Hanifa, he took her to his wife where she stayed before he subsequently killed her and buried her within the premises of his school located at Kwanar Dakata, Nassarawa local government area of Kano State

The magistrate’s court at Gidan Murtala has adjourned sitting on the case until February 2, 2022, and asked the police to continue to keep Jamila in custody.
