Dani Alves‘ mother, Lucia, met on Thursday with the former Barcelona right-back’s lawyers.
Her son has been accused by a woman of alleged sexual assault in a Barcelona nightclub on December 30.
Lucia went to Cristobal Martell’s law firm in her bid to learn more details about Alves’ defense strategy.
Although she was unwilling to speak to reporters, Lucia did convey through gestures her confidence in her son’s innocence.
Asked by the press if she believed that her son had not done what he’s been accused of, Lucia nodded her head several times.
Alves’ mother believes the version of her son, who has confessed to having been unfaithful to his wife but insisted that the young plaintiff consented to sex.
This is the line of defense adopted by the player’s legal team, who will try with this argument to spare their client from a potential conviction.
Those accompanying Lucia in her visit to the lawyers stressed that she is overwhelmed and saddened by all the information that has been coming to light about her son in recent days.
In addition, they confirmed that Martorell has already prepared an appeal to ask for Alves to be allowed to leave the jail.
