Dass, Katagum LGs win 2022 Qur’an Recitation Competition in Bauchi

Representatives of Dass and Katagum local government areas of Bauchi State have emerged the overall winners  of the 36th edition of the state Quranic recitation competition in 60 Hizb with Tafsir in Male and Female categories.

Abdulsamad Adamu Musa from Dass emerged the overall winner while Amira Mohammad from Katagum local government area was the winner in male and female categories respectively.

Other winners include Idris Bello from Zaki who came first in 60 hizb without Tafsir and his female counterpart Khadija Musa Abba emerged first in the female category.

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed congratulated the winners of the ompetition conducted in Misau Local Government Area of the state.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, the governor urged them to endeavor to exhibit the teaching and good virtues of the Holy Qur’an in all their conduct.

Represented by his deputy, Senator Baba Tela, Governor Bala Mohammed commended judges of the competition for conducting their affairs without any fear or favour.

He appreciated the participation of the 20 local government areas of the state in the competition and called on citizens of the state not to relent in supporting the government for better service delivery.

“As we all know, this competition is meant to, among other things, promote peace and Islamic knowledge, honesty, love for one another and above all the fear of Allah Subhanahu Wata’ala.

“I am particularly pleased to note that the organizing committee is appreciating this effort and working towards the realization of the desired goal.”

The governor said his administration is fully alive to its duty of protecting the lives and property of the citizenry and assured that, it will leave no stone unturned in the effort of restoring peace and stability of the state.

“I want to use this medium to call on Muslim ummah in Bauchi State to continue to emulate the exemplary life led by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H.), which was characterized by love, peace and honesty.

“These virtues are essential ingredients for the attainment of our declared objectives of raising the moral standard of our people.”

The Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Rilwanu Sulaimanu Adamu, represented by the Emir of Misau, Alhaji Ahmed Sulaiman, challenged the participants of the Qur’anic recitation competition to utilize the knowledge acquired for the promotion of Islam.

The Chairman, Qur’anic recitation competition committee, Malam Mustapha Baba Ilela expressed gratitude to Governor Bala Mohammed for supporting the conduct of the competition and attributed it to the successes recorded by the committee.

He said the governor released N40m to ensure the success of the competition and thanked the Almighty Allah for a hitch-free competition.

First and second positions went home with cars and others got consolation prizes, such as refrigerators, sewing machine, and others.
