EFCC arrests 80 suspected internet fraudsters in Abuja, Akwa Ibom

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Friday, May 31, 2024 arrested 40 suspected internet fraudsters at different axes of Abuja.

Earlier on Thursday, operatives of the EFCC, Uyo Zonal Command on Thursday, arrested 40 suspected internet fraudsters in early morning sting operations at two different locations in the state.

In Abuja, 18 were arrested at Dawaki axis, while the remaining 12 were arrested at other locations in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Their arrest followed credible intelligence about their suspected involvement in internet activities.

Items seized from the suspects include 23 phones, 4 laptops and 4 vehicles.
They will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.

In Akwa Ibom, operatives of the EFCC, Uyo Zonal Command arrested 21 of the all-male suspects in Eket, while the remaining 19 were picked up in Ikot Ekpene.

Items recovered from the suspects upon arrest include: one Toyota SUV XLE, nine laptop computers, 64 smart phones, one internet router and a smart watch.

They will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.
