Eid el-Kabir: Katsina cancels Sallah durbar

The Katsina Emirate Council has announced the cancelling of the annual Sallah durbar and other festivities because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This ia contained in a statement issued by the Secretary to the Katsina Emirate Council Alhaji Bello M. Ifo.

He said the decision was reached by the Emir Dr. Abdulmumini Kabir Usman and his council members.

“Due to the prevailing insecurity in parts of the state leading to the wanton killing of innocent people by bandits as well as the COVID-19 pandemic, I have been instructed to inform you of the cancellation of this year’s Sallah durbar,” Ifo said in the statement.

“We will continue to pray for peace,” it added.

It would be recalled that the Kano State Government under Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje had earlier announced the cancellation of Sallah festivities due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
