Ex-Bauchi SSG Ibrahim Kashim emerges PDP guber candidate

Former Secretary to Bauchi State Government (SSG), Barrister Ibrahim Muhammad Kashim has won the gubernatorial primary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2023 General elections.

The PDP returning officer for Bauchi State, Hassan Ahmed Grema, disclosed this on Wednesday at the Zaranda Hotel in Bauchi.

He declared that Barr Kashim Ibrahim though the sole aspirant polled a total of 656 votes out of the 657 accredited delegates, leaving one invalid vote.

He said “by the powers conferred on me by the constitution of the PDP, I hereby declare Barr Kashim Ibrahim as the winner of the PDP gubernatorial ticket for the 2023 General elections”.

Shortly after his declaration, Kashim said he accepted the mandate given to him by the delegates.

“The contest has just begun for 2023. The PDP is ready to beat every other opposition, We must be a united party to be able to defeat others in the general elections.

“I am appealing to all of you to rally round and give the maximum support needed to win the general elections come 2023,” Kashim said.

He commended the State Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir for providing what he described as a purposeful leadership that has transformed Bauchi State far above its peers.

“Our focus when eventually elected in 2023 is to build on what has been done by our great political leader, Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir who has demonstrated that good and effective leaders still abound in the country”.

Meanwhile, the campaign organisation of Ahned Adamu Mu’azu Jnr. has alleged that they were denied the opportunity to be screened and to participate in the PDP Governorship Primary election.

Ahmed Jnr is the eldest the son of former Bauchi State Governor Ahmadu Adamu Mu’azu.

Director General of the Mu’azu Junior Campaign Organisation Dr Kabiru Garba Ilelah stated this while addressing reporters in Bauchi.

He said they had already wrote a petition to the National Working Committee of the party and they have file an appeal before the appeal committee.

Dr Kabiru said they will now wait to see the outcome of the PDP Primaries after which they will decide what to do especially the way to fight fir their rights according to the laws of the land and laws of the party.

When contacted, the Publicity Secretary of the PDP Yayanuwa Zainabari said he was not aware that Ahmed junior is contesting for any seat, arguing that they only know Kashim.as the only candidate that purchased PDP Governorship nomination and expression of interest forms.
