The Emir of Daura, Alhaji Faruq Umar Faruq, has conferred traditional titles on three prominent members of late Alkali Buhari family.
They include former House of Representatives Speaker Ibrahim Salisu Buhari (Iyan Daura), Dr. Garzali Salisu Buhari (Makaman Kasar Hausa) and Dr. Samira Salisu Buhari (Daurama Karama).
Addressing the gathering, the Emir of Daura said the conferment recognized the contributions of the family of late Alkali Buhari to the development and welfare of Daura communities.
He presented each honouree with a Staff of Office, which symbolizes their new roles within the emirate’s traditional hierarchy.
In his remarks at the grand turbaning ceremony held at Kangiwa Square in Daura, Katsina State Governor Dikko Umaru Radda emphasized the vital role of traditional institutions in fostering peace, unity, and progress across both Katsina State and Nigeria.
The governor encouraged the newly turbaned leaders to maintain their commitment to advancing socio-economic development throughout Daura and Katsina State.
He further described the conferment of traditional titles as a strategic step by the Emir of Daura to preserve and promote traditional leadership in the Emirate.
The event drew distinguished guests from across Nigeria, including Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, who represented Senate President Godwil Akpabio, and Rep. Ado Doguwa, who represented the Speaker of the House of Representatives Abbas Tajudeen.
Others included former Deputy Governor of Kano State Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, former Speaker House of Representatives Patricia Etteh, Labour Party Vice Presidential Candidate Senator Datti Baba Ahmed, and Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa, alongside traditional title holders from various parts of the country.
