Ex-Super Eagles stars celebrate Tinubu at 70

It was exciting moments of football artistry today during a novelty match to celebrate the 70th birthday anniversary of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena.

The novelty match which was between ex-Super Eagles players and Team Lagos, had Austin Jay-Jay Okocha as the captain for the ex-international team, and Victor Agali, Nwankwo Kanu, Peter Rufai, Ike Shorunmu, Taribo West, Garba Lawal, Mutiu Adepoju, Victor Ikpeba and Abiodun Obafemi, and others as team members.

Team Lagos which was captained by the Speaker of the Lagos state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, had the likes of Waidi Akanni, Godwin Okpara, Friday Ekpo, Sanni Doherty, Akeem Ogunlade, Wasiu lpaye, Taiwo Oloyede, Yusuf Ayinla and Alhaji Gafar, among others, who were former stars of different clubs in Lagos as team members.

Also in attendance were former and present members of the National Assembly, Lagos State Executive Council, Local Government Chairmen, as well as members of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), Lagos State APC executive members, amongst others.

While it was a friendly match, the former Super Eagles members could not help but show their prowess on the pitch, as they won the match with a 2:0 advantage over Team Lagos.

I am particularly grateful to all supporters and participants that added colour to today’s event in honour of a remarkable statesman whose life of service is a source of inspiration to us all.
