Ex-youth and sports minister Solomon Dalung visit Gumi

A former Minister of Youth and Sports Barr Solomon Dalung, on Sunday, paid a surprise visit to Kaduna-based Islamic scholar Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Gumi at his residence.

Dateline Nigeria learnt that the discussion between the two centered on pressing national issues, including insecurity, bad leadership, and the state of governance in Nigeria.

Dalung said he was at Gumi’s residence to greet him after the New Year and also urge him to continue his struggle for the betterment of lives of the downtrodden.

“Nigerians are suffering. They are facing hardship. In the run up to the last election, I remember you kept cautioning the people on the need to have a leadership that will not turn against them.

“I know people have abused you and called you all sorts of names in the past, but events have since vindicated you. It is clear that you are not just a religious leader but a father who has the interest of the people at heart,” Dalung said.

The former minister also said religious leaders must never allow politicians to use religion and spaghetti to deceive the people as happened in the past.

In his response, Dr. Ahmad Gumi expressed gratitude for the visit, commending Hon. Dalung for his consistent engagement.

He assured his cooperation in addressing these challenges, emphasizing that the current administration, unlike the previous one, has shown a willingness to listen.

He highlighted the establishment of the Ministry of Livestock Affairs as an example of progress.
