A famous Kannywood actress Saratu Gidado, popularly known as Daso, has passed on, throwing the Hausa film industry into mourning.
She died in the early hours of Tuesday at the age of 56. Those close to the actress confirmed that she died after having her pre-fast meal (sahur) today Tuesday.
She has been buried in Kano in accordance with Islamic rites.
Prior to her acting career, Saratu served as a dedicated school teacher.
She was a loving wife and mother. Her resilience and dedication to her craft served as an inspiration to many aspiring actors and actresses in the Kannywood industry
Daso was born January 17, 1968 in Chiranchi, Gwale Local Government Area of Kano State. She made her film debut in 2000 in Linzami Da Wuta, but has starred in several films.
