FFK: Stealing the limelight in Bichi

The town of Bichi in Kano State, yesterday, witnessed the largest gathering of Nigeria’s who-is-who that thronged the headquarters of the newly created emirate to witness the wedding Fatiha of President Buhari’s son, Yusuf, and princess Zahra Nasir Ado Bayero.

While the tabloids and the social media were busy with mischief, counting the number of private jets that shuttled-in guests to Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, serious newspapers were focused on the positivity of the event.

The side news that attracted the most attention and kept trending for over 24 hours now, was the presence of former aviation minister under the OBJ administration, chief Femi Fani Kayode who was recently politically rehabilitated by the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahya Bello.

Although Zamfara State Governor, Bello Muhammad Mutawalle, was the first to pull FFK out of his “hate island,” Governor Yahya Bello deserves the full credit of turning him around and bringing him back to civilisation.

I had written two articles on this page since the beginning of the year, criticising FFK for the hateful monster that he turned himself into; openly abusing the President, Fulani, Islam and the North.

It is therefore delightful to see him get passed his horrid, venomous heart and overcoming his fixed mindset about the North and its people. What I saw of him in Bichi and the social trips he undertook to certain Northern states, Bauchi being the most recent about a week ago, proves to me that Nigerian politicians can be advocates of unity and peace in this country, if they choose to.

The Buhari administration should therefore seize the moment and engage this political socialite to good use for the country. He will be of great service to Nigeria, if appointed Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Public Affairs to the President. After all, the President, by the backing of our constitution, can appoint as many SSAs to any office.

FFK has my vote on this.
