The Federal Housing Authority (FHA) disclosed its plans to construct 7,000 housing units named FHA Golden Jubilee Estate to commemorate its 50th anniversary.
The project, which is located in Mbora District along Tundun Wada, Lugbe Federal Housing Estate, Abuja, would be executed in partnership with Nuga Best International and Regis Integrated Services Limited.
The Managing Director/Chief Executive of FHA, Senator Gbenga Ashafa, who spoke at the groundbreaking ceremony of the Golden Jubilee Estate in Abuja, said 1200 housing units would be executed in the first phase of the project.
Ashafa, who reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to providing mortgages to Nigerians, said the FHA under him is ever-ready to provide housing solutions to Nigerians.
He said: “Our resolve remains unwavering, steadfastly committed to our core mandate of providing solutions for the citizens of Nigeria. The FHA Golden Jubilee Estate will contribute approximately 7,000 distinct residential units to our national housing inventory upon completion.
“Today, we embark on the construction of the initial 1200 units, to be realized through a Public-Private-Partnership with the esteemed Nuga Best and Regis International. The estate will be served with standard infrastructure that characterizes FHA development.”
Earlier, the Chairman of Nuga Best International and Reig Integrated Services Limited, Pastor Hilary Chukwuma, had promised that the project, upon completion, would implode the housing challenges in the country.
Chukwuma, who thanked the Federal Government and FHA for the partnership, said the project would cater to Nigerians irrespective of their classes or status, saying that the housing units would be constructed with the option of different types of houses.
Also speaking, the Managing Director of the Nuga Best International and Reig Integrated Services Limited, Mr. Turaki Hassan, said the estate, which sits on about 200 hectares of land, is designed for schools, hospitals, shopping malls, and other facilities.
