Fintiri, deputy inspect 1000 housing unit project at Malkohi

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, along with Deputy Governor Prof. Kaletapwa G. Farauta, inspected the ongoing construction of the 1000 Housing Unit project at Malkohi in Yola South Local Government Area on Tuesday, August 8th, 2023.

The governor had promised that his administration would complete the project before the end of the year.

During the inspection, Governor Fintiri expressed satisfaction with the progress made on the project so far.

He revealed that the government had initially intended to complete the project last year but faced some setbacks due to the preparations required for ensuring the deployment of quality infrastructure at the site.

The 1000 Housing Unit project at Malkohi is a significant initiative undertaken by Governor Fintiri’s administration to address the housing needs of the people in Adamawa State.

The project aims to provide affordable and decent housing options for residents in the State.

The completion of this housing project will have several positive impacts on the community. Firstly, it will help alleviate the housing shortage for Adamawa residents, providing more families with access to safe and comfortable houses. This will contribute to improving their overall quality of life.

Moreover, the availability of affordable housing options can have a positive effect on social cohesion within communities.

When individuals and families have access to secure housing, it fosters stability and a sense of belonging. This can lead to stronger community ties and improved social interactions among residents.

The Governor stated that the contractors responsible for the road, water, and electrification projects in the area are currently mobilizing their efforts to ensure the timely completion of the project for use by civil servants.

Governor Umaru Fintiri also announced the readiness of his administration to initiate the construction of a super highway this year.

The highway will begin from the Federal Government Girls College (FGGC) in Yola and extend to the site, connecting with Gibson Jalo Road, which will alleviate traffic congestion on the eastern flank of the city,” he stated.

The Governor further elaborated that, following the completion of this initial phase of the project, the government plans to construct an additional 1,000 houses in the state. The Government intended to construct a total of 2,000 houses.

“Indeed, this marks the completion of the initial phase of our plan. Originally, we set out to construct a total of 2,000 houses. As we approach the conclusion of the first 1,000 houses, our intention remains steadfast.

We are committed to aligning our efforts with the interests of the civil servants, and we aim to proceed with the construction of an additional 1,000 houses.”

He emphasized that this approach will significantly contribute to reducing the cost of renting houses, ultimately making it more affordable for individuals to own their own houses.

During his visit to the project site, Governor Umaru Fintiri was guided around by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works and Energy, Engineer Suleiman Mohammed.

Also, the Governor was accompanied by SSG Hon. Awwal D. Tukur, Chief of Staff Dr. Edgar Amos, and friends and associates of the Governor.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s inspection of the ongoing construction of the 1000 Housing Unit project at Malkohi demonstrates his commitment to fulfilling his promise of completing the project before the end of the year. This initiative will have far-reaching positive impacts on the community, including addressing housing shortages, creating employment opportunities, and fostering social cohesion.
