Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri on Thursday has launched Tree Planting Campaign in Adamawa State, organized by the United Nations (UN) Office of the Humanitarian Affairs in collaboration with the State Government to reduce effects of climate change.
The event is also to commemorate the World Humanitarian Day 2021, with this year theme “The Human Race, and it focuses on taking up global action to combat climate change while standing in solidarity with vulnerable populations around the world”.

The event took place in Government House, Yola.
Speaking after planting a tree campaign, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri expressed his appreciation to developmental partners for supporting humanity, helping women and children, especially in the crisis areas.
The governor emphasized that State Government will not relent as it will continue to uplift humanity and urging people to queue into the quest of mitigating global environmental challenges across the State.
The Commissioner of Rehabilitation, Reconstruction, Reintegration, and Humanitarian Affairs, Mr Elijah Tumba applauded Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for always exhibiting the political will to humanitarian needs in Adamawa.
In his remarks, the Head of the UN Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs Mr Mosere Sesay said the tree planting campaign is necessary towards combating the effects of climate change in Adamawa.
He further said in commemoration of World Humanitarian Day, his Office has on Wednesday 18th August 2021 organized a cleanup exercise in Jimeta metropolis by picking trash aimed at sanitizing the environment for the general good of the society.
