A father Yakubu Usman in Kafin Bakoshi village in Jigawa State has narrated how he lost his three children after their building collapsed on them as a result of flood.
Usman, who narrowly survived the disaster along with his wife one child, said the incident happened around 5-6am following a heavy rainfall that led to a flash flooding in the area.
He told the BBC Hausa that hundreds of houses collapsed as a result of the flood, adding that he didn’t know how his room collapsed even though he was inside together with his family when it happened.
Usman said six of them were in the room that morning – himself, his wife and four children.
“I just woke up to see that part of my room had collapsed where my children were sleeping. They were buried under the rubble, but one of them, a girl, was rescued alive by the people who rushed to our help,” the father said.
He said the other three where confirmed dead at the hospital after they were removed from under the rubble.
