Kebbi State Governor, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, was among thousands of football fans who thronged Kano City on Sunday to witness the final match of the maiden All Progressives Congress (APC) North West Unity Cup, 2020.
Bagudu, according to his spokesman Yahaya Sarki, has remained unwaveringly committed to sports development in Kebbi State and has been encouraging youth participation in sporting activities, especially football, within and outside Nigeria.
Kebbi State has also remained a pacesetter in the country and Africa, especially in beach soccer.
During the final football match, Kebbi State team locked horns with its Kano counterpart, with each team fiercely creating scoring chances to the admiration of the fans.
However, the match finally ended up 0-0 at the expiration of 90 minutes of play, but the Kano team won 2-1 via penalty kicks.
Bagudu, who was the Special Guest at the football match, commended the efforts and resilience of the Kebbi Team for holding the host to a 90 minutes goalless draw, on their home soil.
”Our boys did well, getting to the finals is a big win. Losing by penalty at the finals shows how good they are. Kudos to our boys,” he said.
Bagudu was accompanied by his Chief of Staff, Alhaji Suleiman Muhammad Argungu (Jarman Kabi), Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, Gidado Aliyu Kaliel and the Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Alhaji Usman Ladan.
