The former Imaam of Masjid an Nabawi (Prophet’s mosque) Sheikh Muhammad Khaleel Al Qari has passed away earlier today at 2am Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) time.
The funeral prayers will be after Maghrib Prayers today, according to Haramain Sharifain.
Shaikh Muhammad Khalil Qari and his brother, Shaikh Mahmood Khalil Qari were guest imams for Taraweeh at Masjid An-Nabawi, and imams of Masjid Quba.
Shaikh Muhammad led Taraweeh during Ramadhan 1437 and 1438 AH (2016-2017) at Masjid An-Nabawi and passed on today, 18 Shawwal 1444, 8 May 2023.
Shaikh Mahmood led Taraweeh during Ramadhan 1439 AH (2018), and he had died on 25 June 2022.
Their father, Shaikh Khalil Qari, was known as “Sheikh of the Imams of the Two Holy Mosques”; In reference to the fact that six of his former students served as Imams of Haramain, including Sheikh Muhammad Ayyub and Sheikh Ali Jaber.
He was originally from Muzaffarabad and had migrated to Makkah in 1963. He passed away on 3 Sept. 2018.
