Former Power Minister Sale Mamman announces run for Taraba governor

Former Minister of Power, Engr. Sale Mamman, has officially declared his intention to contest the 2027 Taraba State governorship election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Mamman made the announcement on Tuesday after obtaining the APC Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms, describing the step as “a defining moment” in his journey of public service and a response to the collective aspiration of Taraba’s people.

“This step is not just a personal milestone, but a collective aspiration inspired by the hopes, yearnings, and resilience of the good people of Taraba,” he said in a statement.

The former minister expressed gratitude to youths, elders, women, professionals, and traditional institutions across the state for their encouragement and support, saying their trust would not be taken for granted.

Mamman said his decision to run was driven by the need for “visionary, accountable, and people-centered leadership” in a state richly endowed with human and natural resources but held back by underperformance and inefficiencies.

He pledged to chart a new course anchored on transparency, inclusiveness, and sustainable development.

Outlining his priorities, he said his administration would focus on unlocking opportunities in agriculture, education, healthcare, infrastructure, and youth empowerment.

He promised a government that listens, responds, and delivers tangible results, where every citizen feels secure and valued.

“As we begin this journey, I call on all well-meaning sons and daughters of Taraba State to join hands with me,” he said. “Let us rise above divisions and work collectively for the future we deserve. With unity, determination, and faith, we will restore hope, inspire progress, and build a Taraba State that works for everyone.”
