As part of his effort to motivate staff and reward hard work, the Vice-Chancellor Federal University Dutse, Professor Ahmad Muhammed Gumel has proposed an Annual Staff Excellence Award to recognize and reward staff who are doing their best in their various units and departments.
Professor Gumel who spoke to FUDNewsletter said time has come to reward hardworking staff who show up everyday to do their beat to keep the university going adding that recognizing hardwork and excellence is part of his effort to motivate staff to do more for the system.
He said there are outstanding Teaching and Non- Teaching staff that are doing well in the university and his administration will compile their names annually and recognize them adding that all staff of the university must sit up because there will be reward and punishment.
Professor Gumel said apart from the issue of staff housing, he intends to upgrade the university clinic so that staff and students can get maximum medical attention in the facility adding that staff training, financial support and timely promotion are also some of the ways he intend to motivate staff for maximum efficiency.
He said his administration is staff and student centred because they are key to achieving the objective of establishing the university.
