The Gombe State Internal Revenue Service has organised a roundtable discussion for the newly elected local government chairmen of the 11 local government authorities in the State.
The Executive Chairman of the Service who presented a paper on the “Financial Positions of the LGAs – Imperatives for Aggressive IGR Drive” congratulated and advised the elected officials to look inward in order to generate sufficient revenue for sustainable local government administration.
The Chairman also handed over copies of the new revenue law tagged “Gombe State Revenue Administration and Revenue Codification and Consolidation Law 2020 to local government chairmen to act as a guide in revenue administration at the local level and in constituting local government revenue committees.
He introduced the concept of “Tax for Service” to the Honourable Executive Chairmen and urge them to be open, transparent and accountable in the conduct of local government operations and seek clarifications from the Service when in doubt.
