Katsina State Governor Dikko Umaru Radda has extended congratulations to two Katsina indigenes who have secured coveted positions in Nigeria’s U20 National Team, the Flying Eagles.
The two rising stars have been selected to represent Nigeria at the upcoming U20 Nations Cup in Cairo, Egypt, following their outstanding performances during the first-ever U20 National Team camp hosted in Katsina State.
Governor Radda asserted that the young talents embody the sporting excellence Katsina state is nurturing.
“Their selection validates our strategic investments in sports infrastructure and youth development programs. They carry not just their dreams but the hopes of our entire state as they compete on the continental stage,” the Governor declared.
Governor Radda also added, “We are building a comprehensive sports ecosystem that identifies talent at the grassroots level and provides the support needed to reach national and international recognition.”
The historic hosting of the U20 National Team camp in Katsina marks a major milestone for Northern Nigeria and exemplifies Governor Radda’s ambitious vision for sports development across the state.
The historic achievement, which spotted Yushau Armayau and Chigozie Micheal, stems from a productive partnership between the Dikko Sports Movement, spearheaded by Alhaji Abubakar Sani, and the Katsina State Ministry of Sports.
The Nigerian U20 team departed from Abuja for Egypt on April 20, 2025, with tournament play scheduled to begin on April 27, 2025.
