The Governor of Katsina State Dikko Umaru Radda has launched the distribution of 21,924 bags of rice as part of the Federal Government’s food security programme.
He also announced significant road construction projects by the Federal Government for the state while speaking at an event held at the Government House in Katsina.
Governor Radda revealed that the Federal Government has awarded a contract for the completion of the Kano-Gidan Mutum Daya-Kankia-Charanchi-Katsina road, a project initiated by the previous administration.
Additionally, the Mararabar Kankara-Dutsin-ma road project, previously revoked, is set to be re-awarded to a more competent company.
The rice distribution, aimed at alleviating the current economic hardship faced by citizens, will reach various segments of the population, including vulnerable women and youth groups at various ward and local government levels.
Alhaji Ibrahim Kabir Masari, Chairman of the distribution committee and Special Assistant to the President on Political Matters, emphasized that this initiative is part of the Federal Government’s commitment to rebuilding the country’s future.
Also speaking at the event, the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, stated that the palliative measure aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda. He commended Governor Radda for his efforts in supporting vulnerable populations during these challenging times.
Governor Radda, however, reiterated commitment to pursuing more people-oriented projects and programs from the Federal Government for the benefit of Katsina State citizens.
He expressed optimism about the timely commencement of the announced road projects and promised to roll out additional initiatives to improve the lives of the electorate.
The distribution committees at local and ward levels will include Members of Katsina State House of Assembly, security agencies, representatives from religious groups among others, to ensure fair and efficient distribution of the rice.
