Governor Radda inaugurates 11-man Katsina book review committee

The three books to be reviewed are: "Katsina Unveiled" "Katsina Icons"and Katsina Traditions.

The Katsina State Government, under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda PhD CON, inaugurates the Katsina State Book Review Committee.

The inauguration ceremony was conducted on behalf of the Governor by the Secretary to the Government of Katsina State, Barr. Abdullahi Garba Faskari.

The committee, chaired by Prof. Waziri Sani Abubakar Lugga, comprises distinguished members from various sectors including academics, government ministries, and media. This diverse composition ensures a comprehensive and multifaceted approach to the review process.

The 11 men committee include:

  1. Prof. Sani Abubakar Lugga, (Chairman)
  2. Dr. (Engr.) Muntaqqa Rabe Darma (Vice Chairman)
  3. Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, Chief Press Secretary to Katsina State Governor
  4. Dr. Bala Salisu, Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Information, Culture and Home Affairs (Member)
  5. Alh. Adnan Nahabu, Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment (Member)
  6. Khalil Nura Khalil, State Economic Adviser (Member)
  7. Dr. Kabir, Executive Director Investment, Katsina State Development Board (Member)
  8. Dr. Aliyu Rabi’u Kurfi Executive Director, History and Culture Bureau (Member)
  9. Dr. Shamsudeen Bello K/bai, Representative of Umaru Musa Yar’Adua University (Member)
  10. Tukur Hassan Danali, Chairman, NUJ, Katsina State Chapter (Member)
  11. Comrade Buhari, Representative from the National Commission for Museums and Monuments (Member)
  12. Abdullahi Aliyu Yar’adua, Director Press, SGS office (Secretary)

Recall that, Governor Radda upon assumption of office has deemed it necessary to have an encompassing literary materials focusing on the historical antecedents and development of Katsina State.

Consequently, a tripartite books focusing on Katsina Unveiled, Katsina Icons and Katsina Traditions were commissioned by the State Government.

The committee’s terms of reference for the books review are as follows:

  1. To review the three books and examine the texts, images and overall presentation.
  2. To evaluate the books’ relevance to Katsina State history, culture and traditions.
  3. To identify any errors, inaccuracies or misleading information in the books.
  4. To provide constructive feedback and recommendations for improvement.
  5. Request additional information or clarification from the book author or publisher.
  6. Co-opt any other persons that will assist the committee in achieving the desired objectives.
  7. Submit a report on the committee’s final recommendations within two weeks.

During the inauguration, Barr. Abdullahi Garba Faskari expressed his best wishes to the committee, stating, “We are expecting the report, and whatever support that will be needed by the committee will be ready by the grace of God.”

This initiative underscores the Katsina State Government’s commitment to preserving and accurately representing the rich history and cultural heritage of the state.

The government looks forward to the committee’s findings and recommendations, which will contribute to unlock the human, cultural and economic potentials of the Katsina State to investors.

The three books to be reviewed are: “Katsina Unveiled” “Katsina Icons”and Katsina Traditions.
