The Global Partnership for Education (GPE) welcomes the nomination of Christine Hogan, former Deputy Minister of Environment and Climate Change of Canada, as Vice Chair-elect of the GPE Board of Directors.
“I am delighted to welcome Christine Hogan as Vice Chair-elect of the Global Partnership for Education,” said Dr. Jakaya Kikwete, GPE Board Chair and former President of the United Republic of Tanzania.
“Her extensive experience and distinguished career will help advance GPE’s efforts to transform education in 90 countries and put education at the heart of climate action.”
“We are very fortunate to have Ms. Hogan as GPE Vice Chair,” said Laura Frigenti, CEO of the Global Partnership for Education.
“With a strong track record in international affairs and development, Ms. Hogan will provide expert stewardship at this critical juncture for global education efforts, as the combined impacts of climate change, conflict and debt threaten to disrupt the education of millions of children across the world.“
Ms. Hogan’s term as Vice Chair will officially begin September 15, 2024. She will succeed Dr. Susan Liautaud, Chair of Council of the London School of Economics and Political Science.
“It is an honor to join the GPE Board. I look forward to helping advance GPE’s vital work so that every girl and boy has the opportunity to learn, thrive and contribute to a more equal, sustainable and prosperous world,” said Christine Hogan, GPE Board Vice Chair-elect.
Since 2014, GPE’s Board has expanded and diversified its members, bringing together all relevant partners around our shared mission of delivering quality education to the world’s most vulnerable children.
The GPE Board of Directors sets the partnership’s policies and strategies. The Board mirrors the wide-ranging and diverse nature of the partnership and includes members from lower-income country governments and all development partners: donors, civil society organizations, private sector and foundations, and multilateral agencies and regional banks.
