The Kaduna State Commissioner of Finance Shizzer Joy Nasara Bada has reportedly been arrested by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
Bada, who served as Kaduna State Accountant General during the Nasir el-Rufai administration, was on her way out of the country when she was picked up at the Lagos airport on Sunday.
Her arrest, sources told Dateline Nigeria, is connected to investigation into the report of the Kaduna State House of Assembly which accused the El-Rufai administration of syphoning N423 billion from the state treasury.
The assembly asked Governor Uba Sani to refer his predecessor El-Rufai, his Commissioner of Finance Nasara Bada and other aides to relevant security agencies for investigation.
The assembly also asked the governor to direct the finance commissioner to step aside following her indictment in the same report.
The ICPC had been reportedly tracking Bada’s movements after receiving an intelligence report suggesting that she might leave the country to evade investigation.
Dateline Nigeria reports the Clerk of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Sakinatu Idris, had at the beginning of the probe asked the commissioner of finance to submit all documents concerning financial and contractual dealings of ex- governor Nasir El- Rufai from May 2015 to May 2023.
When contacted, an aide of the finance commissioner, Simeon Zoaka, simply said “I don’t have those details.”
The ICPC spokesperson Azuka Ogugua could not be reached as at the time of filing this report.
