The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, on Monday in Kano, joined the national chairman of the party, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, to welcome Senator Ibrahim Shekarau into the opposition party.
Shekarau, representing Kano Central and former Governor of Kano State, defected to the PDP after misunderstanding over sharing of political offices with the New Nigerian Peoples Party and its presidential candidate Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
This is the second time Shekarau is defecting to PDP.
