A National Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in charge of North East, Abubakar Modibbo Alkali, has passed on.
Alkali, a retired Major General of the Nigerian Army, died Monday night at the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital in Kaduna. He was buried Tuesday at the Isah Kaita Road burial ground in Kaduna.
Dateline Nigeria reports that the late retired General was sworn in in February 2022 as INEC national commissioner by then President Muhammadu Buhari.
Before retiring from the Nigerian Army, the late Major General Alkali held several positions including Commander of 34 Field Artillery Brigade.
