
The Industrial Training Fund, ITF, has distributed startup packs to 120 youths who had completed training in relevant trades to enable them put their various skills acquired to immediate use.
The ITF empowered the trained youths as part of the Federal Government renewed efforts at reducing poverty in Bauchi State
The beneficiaries were trained in solar Power installation, Tiling, Interlocking of blocks, and Hairdressing as well as plumbing and pipe fitting and aluminum fabrication.
The Director-General of ITF, Joseph Ari, who was represented by the Area Manager Bauchi State, Alhaji Jibrin Loko, disclosed that NISDP is “One of the numerous skills acquisition intervention programmes introduced and implemented by the Fund to facilitate the achievement of the federal government’s policy on job and wealth creation.
“It focuses on skills acquisition to create jobs to stem rampant unemployment and breed a new generation of entrepreneurs, in order to transform the economic landscape of the country.”
He said “Since its inception, the NISDP has equipped over 500,000 Nigerians nationwide and 20,000 from Bauchi State with skills for employability and entrepreneurship, given the intensity and the very practical nature of the training, the beneficiaries were equipped with the necessary skills and attitude for them to thrive as employees or entrepreneurs.”
The Director General said “the event that we are witnessing today is replicated across the 36 states of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory.”

Many of the beneficiaries interviewed appreciated the effort of ITF in empowering them and assured of their commitment to put the knowledge gained to better use.
Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir who was represented by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of cooperatives Alhaji Baba Waziri Hardawa commended ITF for complimenting government and on the successes recorded in trying to reduce poverty not just in the State but the country as a whole.
He said that countries in the world are equipping their citizens with relevant skills hence, what ITF is doing is in order and tasked the beneficiaries to make good use of the tools provided to improve their lot and train others too to be self reliant.
