JIBWIS mourns officer killed by gunmen while on duty

The National Headquarters of Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatis Sunnah, JIBWIS Nigeria, has mourned the death of Abubakar Yusuf Sokoto.

Sokoto, who was the Assistant National Intelligence Officer of the First Aid Group of JIBWIS Nigeria, was killed in a gun attack by gunmen on Monday while carrying out his duties as a member of the Nigeria Police Force.

In a condolence message signed by its National Chairman, Sheikh Dr. Abdullahi Bala Lau, on behalf of the group, JIBWIS described his death as a great loss.

The statement, titled in Hausa “Sakon Ta’aziyya” and beginning with “Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Raji’un”, was issued to commiserate with his family and associates.

“This is indeed a great loss not only to his family and relatives, but also to JIBWIS Nigeria and the entire Muslim Ummah,” the statement said.

The group prayed for Allah to forgive his shortcomings, have mercy on him, illuminate his grave, accept his martyrdom and make Aljannatul Firdausi his final abode.

“We also extend our condolences to his family, colleagues, leaders and all members of JIBWIS Nigeria. May Allah grant them the fortitude to bear this great loss,” it added.

Sokoto served as Assistant National Intelligence Officer of the JIBWIS First Aid Group before his death in the line of duty as a police officer.
