Jigawa court sentences man to death by hanging for killing brother-in-law

A Jigawa High Court of Justice presided over by Justice Hussaina Adamu Aliyu, on 8 December 2021, sentenced one Abdumutallab Isa to death by hanging for killing his brother-in-law Mutari Ibrahim.

Isa, who hails from Waiwalo Village in Yankwashi Local Government, was alleged to have used a knife and a horn and inflicted injuries on Ibrahim, which led to his death. He was convicted for culpable homicide.

The Public Relations Officer of the Jigawa State Ministry of Justice Zainab Baba Santali, disclosed this in a statement on Friday.

The statement said, “Both the prosecution and the defence called witnesses in presenting their respective cases before the court.

“Justice Hussaina Adamu Aliyu found that the prosecution had successfully proved their case beyond reasonable doubt, thereby convicted the defendant to death by hanging for the offence of Culpable Homicide punishable with death under section 221 (b) of the Penal Code Law of Jigawa State.”
