The Jigawa High Court of Justice sitting in Kazaure, presided by Justice Hussaina Adamu Aliyu, on Monday 29th November, 2021 convicted a teacher Makasusi Sunusi for the offence of defiling a 5-year-old pupil.
Mr Sunusi was said to have lured the 5-year-old pupil (names withheld) and defiled her in the school he was working as a teacher at Kazaure town on 4th February, 2021, according to a statement on Tuesday by the Public Relations Officer of Jigawa State Ministry of Justice, Zainab Baba Santali.

“He was arrested and charged to court for the offence of rape punishable under the Jigawa State Penal Code Miscellaneous Amendment, 2014.
“To prove the case, the prosecution had called five (5) witnesses including the prosecutrix and tendered a Medical Report, while the defendant testified in his defence.
“Honourable Justice Hussaina Adamu Aliyu found that the prosecution had successfully proved their case beyond reasonable doubt, His Lordship thereby sentenced the defendant to life imprisonment for the offence of rape as prescribed by Section 3 of the Jigawa State Penal Code Miscellaneous Amendment, 2014,” the statement said
