The Board of Kaduna Electric, the operator of Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company has approved the implementation of the Company’s Performance Improvement Plans aimed at transforming the Company into a world class utility company that delivers values to its customers and other stakeholders.
This was disclosed Wednesday by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Company, Yusuf Hamisu Abubakar during the opening of the Company’s 2021 Strategy Retreat currently holding in Uyo, Akwa lbom State.
Abubakar stated that the Board has set a three year target for the full transformation of the Company into the efficient electricity service provider that would be the pride of all.
“The story of Kaduna Electric is not much different from the story of Akwa Ibom State; starting from a modest beginning about 20 years ago, the State is today in the forefront of infrastructural development. We may have started on a rough footings, we must know that no challenge is unsurmountable and we shall begin Our match towards transforming the Company into what we want it to be from here”, he said.
The electricity boss charged the participants to leverage on the serene environment and conducive atmosphere provided by the lbom Hotel and Golf Resort to deliberate constructively and chart a course that will enable the Company meet all its obligations to the Nigerian Electricity Market in a sustainable manner.
In his welcome address, the Managing Director/CEO, Engr. Garba Haruna disclosed that the Federal Government has provided the enabling environment for the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry and no excuse shall be entertained for non-performance from any service provider.
“The Government has acceded to demands of the participants in the electricity value chain in terms of tariff and other enablers; it now insists that we must live up to our obligations to the Nigerian public in service delivery and to other participants in the market”, he contended.
Engr. Garba Haruna also disclosed that the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry has never gotten more support and encouragement from government and other critical stakeholders than now and charged all the participants to justify the enormous support the sector is currently receiving by providing qualitative electricity service to the customers while not losing focus on the Company’s obligations to the market.
