Kaduna mob killing: 17 more suspects arraigned as police release 30 others

The Kaduna State Police Command has arraigned 17 additional suspects over the gruesome murder of Malama Ummulkhairi Usman in Maraban Jos, while releasing 30 persons found not to have participated in the crime.

This was disclosed in a press statement signed on Friday, June 26, 2026, by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police CP Muhammad Rabiu.

According to the Command, 17 more suspects were arraigned before a competent court on June 25, 2026 in connection with the incident.

Following the conclusion of preliminary investigations, 33 other suspects have been charged with criminal conspiracy and unlawful assembly.

The Police said 30 persons previously arrested have been found not to have participated in the killing and have been released unconditionally.

Investigation ongoing
“The Command reiterates that investigations remain ongoing. We are intensifying efforts to identify and apprehend all individuals who participated in, or aided, the commission of this heinous crime. Every person found culpable will be brought to justice,” the statement read.

CP Rabiu reassured the public of the Command’s commitment to securing justice for the victim and maintaining law and order across Kaduna State.

He urged residents to remain calm, law-abiding, and to continue providing credible information to support the investigation.
