Kaduna senator lays foundation for construction of smart classrooms

Senator Lawal Adamu Usman (PDP, Kaduna Central) has layed the foundation stone for the construction of smart classrooms.

Known as Mr LA, the senator said this is “In fulfillment of my promise to build 100 Classrooms across the Kaduna Central Senatorial District.”

The flag-off ceremony took place in Kaduna North Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Monday.

He said the classes will be furnished with state of the art learning and teaching materials, adding that “There will be provision for Technical Tools, Mini Laboratories, Running Water for Restrooms, School Gardens and aesthetic Plants to create a serene environment for pupils and teachers.

“This drive is aimed at enabling children to practically learn the trade of Gardening, Carpentry, Wood Work, Clay Works such as Pottery, Repairs of Portable Electronic Devises such as mobile phones, radios etc and other extra-curricular activities that will fashion our children to learn trades at an early age.

“This strategic drive will make our children look forward to returning to school everyday knowing full well they will not only study but will have fun with their new equipment.

“With the encouragement of Technical Studies, pupils will be better guided on how to use computers and the above mentioned equipment practically as against reading about them in textbooks etc.

“It is my hope to continue this task nationwide in order to drastically reduce the number of Out-Of-School Children. The drive will be alongside the continuation of the School-Feeding-Programme another effort at encouraging our children to stay in school especially in these difficult times of global financial constraint.

“I hope to return to commission the project in the next 12 weeks by the special grace of God Almighty.

“Lastly, I call on the relevant stakeholders in the locations of these schools to be the custodians of this innovative succour from the Federal Government as the schools are there to serve our children, so protecting the integrity, physical structures and equipment will not be overemphasised.”
