The Kaduna State Government is banning commercial tricycle operators (Keke Napep) from plying major roads within Kaduna Metropolis, part of the ongoing transport sector reform.
The Director-General of Kaduna State Transport Regulatory Authority (KADSTRA), Aisha Saidu-Bala said that officials of the Kaduna State Traffic Law Enforcement Agency (KASTLEA) will enforce the ban.

In line with ongoing Transport Sector Reforms, Kaduna State Government has developed new regulations for commercial transport operators in the State
A Route and Zonal Licensing System is being introduced to allow Buses and Tricycles to operate in designated areas of the Metropolis. This is aimed at regulating and improving transport operations for increased safety, decongestion of traffic and bringing some order in transport operations for passengers and operators alike.
Kaduna State Transport Regulatory Authority (KADSTRA) began the Registration of Keke operations in July 2020 and this is due to end on the 30th of August 2020, Bus Registration is scheduled to start on the 31st of August and ends on the 30th of September 2020. Therefore, all commercial transport operators are advised to ensure that they are duly registered to operate in Kaduna state.
Furthermore, all Keke Operators are now banned from plying the Kawo-Ali Akilu-Ahmadu Bello-Command Junction Route.
The Public is hereby informed that the Kaduna State Traffic Law Enforcement Agency (KASTLEA) will ensure strict compliance of the new Keke Regulations with effect from Monday, 31st August 2020.
